The Custom Bridal Process
Step 1: The Bridal Consultation
We start with a conversation about your vision. Bring photos, save Instagram posts, describe in words — whatever helps communicate what you’re imagining. We’ll talk about silhouette, neckline, fabric, train length, embellishment preferences, and the overall mood of your wedding.
We’ll also talk practically: What’s the venue? Indoor or outdoor? What’s the season? Florida’s heat and humidity affects fabric choices significantly — a heavy duchess satin that looks stunning in a photo studio can be oppressive at an outdoor summer ceremony.
Step 2: Design & Fabric Selection
We’ll sketch or reference designs and select from our bridal fabric library. Popular choices for Florida brides include:
- Chiffon — lightweight, flowy, dreamy. Perfect for beach or garden ceremonies.
- Crepe — structured yet lightweight. Holds its shape without heaviness. Flattering on most silhouettes.
- Mikado — heavier silk-like fabric with beautiful body. Best for indoor, air-conditioned venues.

Step 3: Measurements & Pattern Drafting
We take comprehensive measurements — bust, waist, hips, torso length, shoulder width, and many more specific to bridal construction. A unique pattern is drafted for your body. This is what makes a bespoke gown fundamentally different: it’s not a standard pattern adjusted. It’s a pattern created for you.
Step 4: Fittings
You’ll have 2–3 fittings throughout the construction process — a muslin mock-up fitting to check the structural fit before cutting the real fabric, a baste fitting in the actual fabric, and a final fitting for any last adjustments. We also offer a “reveal” final fitting where the fully finished dress is presented to you for the first time — a memorable moment for many brides.
Timeline for a Custom Wedding Dress
We recommend beginning your bridal consultation at least 4–6 months before your wedding date. For large wedding parties or complex gown designs, 6–8 months is ideal.
